John T. "Tim" Ryan

President and CEO

 

Tim Ryan is a retired U.S. Army officer with over thirty-five years’ experience building and leading high-performing organizations that excel under the most demanding situations. He has an intense desire to help others to succeed and the ability to work with diverse groups of people to achieve results. 

 

During a military career that took him across the United States, to Europe, the Middle and Near East, and many places in between, Tim had the great fortune to benefit from a wide variety of human and operational experiences. He was always selected for the most demanding jobs, including commanding troops at various levels during multiple combat tours. After his military retirement in 2012, he continued to work for the Department of Defense, leading the development of future operating concepts that will shape military force development and acquisition strategies out to 2035. In 2018, he founded J.T. Ryan & Associates to provide a creative outlet for his coaching and leadership talents.

 

Tim is a graduate of Western Carolina University, where he played football, earned his commission as an Army officer, and earned his bachelor’s degree in education (cum laude). 

He holds a Master of Military Arts and Sciences degree in Operational Art and Theater Strategy from the U.S.Army’s School of Advanced Military Studies. He also holds a Master of Science degree in National Resource Strategy (distinguished graduate) from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. He is a certified National Security Professional, a certified instructor, and a certified executive coach.

 

Tim has many hobbies  including fishing, hunting, guitar, woodworking, mountain bike racing, and homebrewing.  Tim and his wife Kay reside in Smithfield, VA and have three grown daughters.
